***Must have taken the "Learn how to use a Sewing Machine Class" or Must have prior sewing experience (can effectively thread a machine, wind bobbins, run a sewing machine, stitch with straight seams). If a student comes to class and does not know how to use a sewing machine, they will be dismissed. ***

- Combine 9 Pieces of Fabric: Learn to arrange and sew nine fabric pieces into a cohesive square quilt block, laying the foundation for countless quilting projects.

- Baste Quilt Layers: Understand the technique of basting, securing your quilt layers in preparation for quilting.

- Quilt the Layers: Gain experience in quilting the layers together, enhancing both the durability and beauty of your creation.

- Add Binding: Master the final step of adding binding to your 12-inch square quilt block, giving it a polished, finished look.

Skills for Future Projects

By the end of this class, you will have the skills and confidence to create larger quilts and the ability to make straight and square quilt blocks. Whether you aim to craft cozy blankets, decorative throws, or heirloom pieces, this class will set you on the path to quilting success.

Materials & Supplies needed for class:

• 2-3 colors fabric (center can be different or the same as the corner squares)

• 2 colors: 5 squares @ 4.5 inches & 4 squares of contrasting fabric @4.5 inches (9 squares total

• 3 colors: 4 squares @ 4.5 inches in two colors (4 each color) & 1 square different color @4.5 inches (9 squares total)

• Batting - 13x13 inch square

• Backing Fabric (can be different or same as one of the top fabrics) 14 inch square

• Binding: 1/2 inch double fold bias tape 1 3/4 yard in complimentary color

• Basic sewing supplies: thread cutting scissors, complimentary color thread, straight pins
